Greystones..

Tue Feb 07, 2012 3:02 pm

People: Dodger & Creep

Duration:8:30pm --->

Tide:Risng and falling

Weather: Beautiful

Bait: Lug, Mack, mainly

Rigs: yes we did use them :D :D

Results:whitting, Rockling, flounder,

Report:
With extreme amounts of bait left over from a recent fishin trip, another session was on the cards as the fridge was now bursting with bait! So the Dodger and myself decided to hit somewhere there was whiting to feed, seeing as Eyesreilly hasn’t fed them in a while! :D :D Poor things were starving!
From the moment we got there it was treble shots of hungry pin whiting with a mixed bag, throwing up rockling as well. Between all the whiting the Dodger managed to scratch out a little flounder no bigger then the palm of your hand! And a tiny codling smaller then the whiting :D :D
Meanwhile I was desperately trying to teach my lug how to swim with the aid of a lead weight; unfortunately none managed to do so, but the whiting did try to help them :D All in all a good ol night, it wasn’t to cold and there was enough clouds about to cover the full glare of the moon.
Wonder if they'll change Greystones name to Whittingstones :D :D

Fair play Kev and Rodger. So what time did you finish @ Kev. Would say the misses is glad to have some room in the fridge again. More pin and rockling's aswell they all need to be fed. Many Crabs about?

@ dac69696969 Yeah the odd whitting I pulled out had the black dots Originalsin had the worst one I seen, with the black dots on its eyes aswell as body, I would say Donal on the site here would have a fair idea, but my guess would be diet? (the dots on mine in the pictures are sand by the way ;) )

@ Tightlines I hear ya, but if the whitting keep growing I'd be happy

@ Sparkey, Dodger had to make an exit around 12ish, but I stayed till 3am, you know me, give me a rod and a rolling sea and I'll stay as long as I can!! Last trip down to Youghal I didnt stop till the sun came up! Not many crabs, BUT loads of tiny pin whitting towards the end, seriously though theres got to be a big predator around with all these pin whitting about. That last trip off Poolbeg I had something take a pin whitting that was too badly hooked, threw it on a pennel 2/0 and though I got the pennel back, my weight went AWOL no tug on the line.. just brought over to the side steady and weight snipped off! :shock:

Nope I stopped @ 3am, but I didnt have that much to pack, funny during the fall of the tide kept getting snagged on reddish rock weed so I went down to one rod and 1 hooks on a 3 flapper, (still pulling in whitting) Kept thinking if a Comp was held there I would LOVE to see the total tally of whitting!! :D :D
