People: Myself
Duration: 17:00-21:00 too long
Tide:low water 17:00
Weather: a night for counting stars and planets
Bait: lug and crab
Rigs: pully rig and 2 hook clipdown
Results: flounder, whiting, coalfish and after a move cod
Report:
Headed east for the second session to get a bit of sand between the toes.
The first two casts showed plenty of small rattling bites a sure sign of pin coalies.

With a change of bait sizes in they came.
Now pin coalfish were not on the agenda so after saving the blank a few times over it was back to real baits.
The first decent fish in was a flounder.

After that a better coalfish and a skinny whiting were landed.
All the fish were caught at close range + - 80yds.
The bait on the rod at distance came back in untouched. Hence the golden rule
“been able to cast a good distance is fine but it is far finer when you know when to cast short”As much as I enjoyed looking at the night sky the fishing was p#ss poor so I headed for Youghal for some fishing and a bit of music. Sadly the band failed to show. I did have 3 cod before the headlamp started to fade.
In all not a bad start to the new year
