People:Me & Bassmania

Duration:16.00 to 23.00

Tide: low to high

Weather:cold with nw breeze

Bait:frozen peeler

Rigs:pennels & 2 hook

Results: whiting & codling

Report: Hit down to Dan in halfway to pick up a bit of bait and decided that we would give an hour on the low water on the wall in Monkstown, a good few fishing but very quiet on the fishing side had a couple of good takes but no hook ups. So hit off to Youghal and decided to hit the carpets, first couple of casts produced good size whiting and a couple of small codling, thought this could be great, there are times that I should stop thinking  things went very quiet for a while with the odd whiting nibble, towards the top of the tide a few more anglers appeared and things seemed to pick up a bit. Just on the turn I got a great bite on the 2 hook rig as I was setting my other rod, in the space of but a couple of seconds the line had gone pure slack so reeled into it, had a good fish on :D but as I was getting it in close it snagged on something on the bottom   tried everything by could not winkle it out, eventually the line snapped  after a few choice words at myself and the water got another rig on and launched, after 5 minutes of pleading with the fishings gods the rod with the pennel took a nice hit, lifted into it, fish on, this produced a lovely plump 2 lb codling. At this stage the tides had well turned and we had a frosty drive home to face so we packed up and headed. Roads were fine on the way home so thought herself was mad saying Limerick was frozen till I got home lifted the gear out the van and slipped on me arse crossing the road :D  :D

Awful shame about losing the good fish Conger but a 2lb codling not to be sneezed at either, glad you got that one out or youd have had no luck at all.

I'd be made up with a 2lb codling at present.

I reckon the butt was so numbed I bounced and came to a gentle stop :D :D Asyou said the main roads seemed ok the trouble was on the off roads and we were still been whizzed past by 'conerned' drivers in 'loud' sounding cars  on the plus side of losing the good fish I gained a trace and lead left on the bottom :D :D

Cheers Cathal, bit of a bummer on the one that got away but I ain't complaining, just after a duo of whiting and cod for dinner, mind you the insult was my 5 year old saying he prefers fish fingers

Well done Seamus...

I haven't gone out in a few weeks now. I was about to go last week after the bad weather but it was very difficult to get any decent bait. Had to cancel sessions.

Good luck on your next session. :D

Hi darol, had one great take on the wall but my fault as I snapped at it, but when we moved to youghal same happened with a group of anglers setting up above us and nearly every cast they had a fish, but hey at least we had a few

Hi Wabs, have to agree preferred bait was hard to come by, then as said earlier trying to defrost the bait was some craic but listen it was great to get out
