carrigaholt

Putting up a report for our welsh visitors. Our club fished a competition on carrigaholt beach from 12pm (just after low tide) until 4pm. 10 anglers caught 45 fish nearly all dogs with a handful of ray. Biggest fish was 3 kilo ray. Fresh mackerel was in short supply but frozen worked equaly as well. After failing to catch any fresh mackerel myself I went to bourkes tackle in Kilkee and ended up with pure muck for bait. Poulnasharry is fishing well for rays and thornies.

Hi Donagh
Thanks for the up-date. Looks like we will be bring our bait with us then.
We will be over on the 13th-17th this month. There are now only 5 of us, are you lads on the forum going to meet up with us over this weekend for a friendly match? If so can you let me know, where, when would be the best for you lads.
We are staying in Kilrush, so venues around that area, preferably.
Hope some of you can make it, should be a good craic.

Hi Wayne,

I'd be happy enough to meet up on the Thursday night but I couldn't travel to farso a suggested venue of Kildysert (aka inishmurray quay). Strong tides here so later on in the weekend this place may be unfishable. I don't know how well this place is fishing and I haven't fished it much but it has a a great reputation. If it doesn't suit or to much of gamble thats fair enough.

Otherwise I may be able to get out sunday for a few hours. Open to suggestions from the the clare lads. Poulnasharry 2 hours either side of low water of the morning would be worth a go.

His mackerel is rubbish but sand-eel ok. I'm going to have a word with him about it. Pity, as all his bait was good over the summer.
He needs to be told!
