As the weather was so good, the wife suggested we headed to a small beach 5 mins from home for a couple of hours fishing before dinner. After she brought me round with smelling salts, the car was packed and we were fishing within 15 minutes. Conditions were ideal for an evening stroll but the sea was too calm for my liking (it was like casting into a swimming pool), never the less we give it a go.
We had plenty of lsd's and pin whiting at distance and we eventually found the flounder by fishing a 1oz lead, banging it out and retrieving bunches of maddies very slowly. This sort of made up for the lack of movement in the tide and as it got dark got us few small coalie as well.
Last chuck and as i was packing bits and pieces away, the rod at distance nearly pulled out of the stand followed by a big slack liner. Soon I had 51cm mackeral bouncing at my feet, nearly twice the size of the average mackeral we were getting in the boat this year during the summer when your supposed to catch mackeral!
Not complaining however, fresh bait for club match today.
