Weather:lovely

Bait:Crab and Gordy's usual secret stash

Rigs:Pulleys

Report:A plan was hatched to head to Cork for a nice pleasure session. Seeing as my last trip was a disaster I was gunning to get another crack at the codling. So we all met at my house at 4am and set off on our way. About an hour or so into the drive my car tyre blew out and forced us off the road in dramatic style. Four shaking souls stood in the pitch black hard shoulder scratching heads and thanking God we were all right. Luckily the head lamps were packed because is was so dark we could have never seen the wheel to change. (New rule, keep torch in boot)

Wheel swapped we set off again. As we drove on darkness broke and we could finally see the Eddie Stobart truck names for our spotting club. We notched up a fair few yesterday let me tell you! After 3 hours I was in the Jack Lynch and Gordy was at this stage beside himself with excitement. A stop off for Diesel, breakkie rolls and much need caffeine was first in order. Followed by dirty looks when I asked could I pay the M50 toll. I love Cork

Another bit of a drive and we reached our spot. Car unpacked we set up and started fishing straight away. All the prep work I'd done this time paid off as my reel was relined, new rigs tied and flask of coffee were all beside me. Bren was first off the mark with a plump codling on his first cast followed by myself. Wayne then hauled out his first of the day. Gordy nervously reeled in to finally find a fat codling on the end of his line. This was looking set to be a successful trip for us all! We fished on until lunch hour with a steady stream of fish all the way. Only codling mind you with no other species at all during the day. I had high hopes of a few whiting but sure next time.

At high tide we'd all had a great day with a few each for the pot. We packed up and hit the road just in time to listen to the Liverpool game on the radio. Bren and Wayne had a nice kip while it turned out to be a longer drive home for me

This lad was very lightly hooked but when I removed it he gushed with blood. Never seen anything like it.

The tyre that blew out on me. Only two year old I might add and I don't use the car much at all.

I don't know how I managed to drive past without seeing you's, It must have been the Vino head and lack of sleep

Our results were about the same as yours though a good few Codling from 1.5lb to about 3lb, nothing big but beats East coast angling this time of Year :D
