Louth beach, 25 October 2011

Wed Oct 26, 2011 9:59 pm

People:Gilbert O'Sullivan i.e. Alone Again, Naturally.

Duration:4 hrs

Tide:2 hrs up, 2 hrs down

Weather:Nice onshore breeze, dry.

Bait:Lug, fozen mackerel and a few white rag.

Rigs:2 and 3 hook flappers.

Results: 1 dogfish.

Report:
Another un-inspiring trip to a Louth beach. I was disappointed to find one of my favourite lug beds nearby devastated by the recent stormy weather but eventually managed to dig enough elsewhere for a session. Sadly it turned out to be more than enough as the dogfish was the only bite of the night. Surprisingly, it took lug in preference to the mackerel. Looking forward to hitting Donegal again! You don't really want a picture of a doggie do you?

It seems to me that the closer you get to sellafield the fewer the fish. I took a walk up a beach near Carlingford with the kids this time last year. There was virtually no sign of marine life on or off the beach. No shell fish, crabs and very few sea birds. Was the doggie glowing in the dark?

at least you beat the blank man. the louth/meath beaches seem to be hard going at the minute. just beating the blank seems to be an achievement.
