Report: haven't been out in a while, so decided to try Monkstown (haven't been there since early in the year). Strong currents and found it hard to get bait to stay on the bottom and found the crabs taking all my bait. (even with 4 and 5oz grippers), But persistance paid off and 2 find colding for the Dinner next day.

thanks guys, deffo nice to see the cod coming back allright.
To be honest I'm not really sure where "the channel" is , but I was able to cast to the spot where some of the big ships were passing. My biggest issue is trying to keep the lead/bait on the bottom, might have to use heavier leads.

if your going to fish monkstown more than 1 and 1/2 hour either side of high or low even a 6oz lead wont hold bottom, the current is just too strong there. And once you are more than 60 yards out i'd say you are in the channel. Tight lines..
