donegal

People: myself

Duration:six hours

Tide:HW 14.30

Weather: sunny shining bit of a breeze

Bait: macs and lug

Rigs:3 hook flappers and wire traces

Finally got a few days of work to try a bit of fishing. Weather was decent enough for a change. Slow start to the day but gradually picked up as did the wind. After an hour the conger rod started to bend and up popped a conger to get my day off and running (good scrap). This was followed by a few good flounder but the best was yet to come. Starting to get kinda slack I said to myself one more cast with the beach rod nothing to lose. After ten minutes my rod folded in half, took me ten minutes to get the bugger in avoiding weed and pots was not an easy task. After much sweating a nice ray appeared at the surface much to my relief.
Overall a great days fishing and hope to get out again very soon

Results[/b 2 congers, 4 flounder, 2 rays, rockling and ballan wrasse

Great to see that the odd ray is still about, their numbers usually thin out a bit over winter, well done
