Louth Beach 9 October 2011

Mon Oct 10, 2011 2:17 am

People: Just me

Duration:4 hours, 2 each side of hi tide.

Tide:High water at 11.00pm

Weather:Mild, breezy, (onshore), occasional shower.

Bait:Lug, mackerel, sandeel.

Rigs: 2 and 3 hook flappers.

Results: 3 tiny whiting.

Report:
At least the beach was weed free this time apart from a short period as the tide turned. Bites difficult to detect due to wind and small fish. Better than my blank last time out here, perhaps BIM have restocked? Also snagged a tiny whitebait on my last cast retrieve but I don't think I'll add it to my species list for the year! It wouldn't even make the size for one of my tins of sardines. Trips like my last two remind me why I got a boat.

Glad it was weed free so it was where we where did you have to chase the tide out or was it deep water mark.....

It's not that deep but no need to chase the tide out. I normally only fish it either side of high water. It may be a bit early yet, a few coalfish , rockling and codling sometimes show up later in the winter.

If you check the photo, you'll see that my ring is a pretty tight fit; I haven't had it off in years! Ahhhh! the old ones.....
