ballintoy, 8/10/11

myself and darren
5 hours
high and rough!
dull and showery

rag n mac

float and spinning

5 small coalies

our usual mark was very dangerous today with very rough seas, so we headed for the relative safety of ballintoy instead.
that turned out to be a mistake!
we had 5 small coalies between us 4 on the float with rag n mac and i had one on the spinner{dexter wedge).
we left at 7 oclock because the fishing and weather was terrible. there was nothing picture worthy!

At least you got a few, might have been more of a mistake to go to the usual mark in rough weather

hello davy, did you arrive or leave around 5:30/6 ish? it was a rough day! we tried 5oz grippers on the bottom and they wouldnt hold, we tried the float for a few wrasse aswell but no luck, i had a good fish follow my lure in only to turn at the last minute! would have improved the day but hey ho thats life!
:D

they havent been about much lately, we have been down the last few saturdays, i was hoping to catch some because my mate in the yellow coat is very new to fishing so a thought a new species would keep his interest! to be fair though ballintoy in general hasnt fished well. i remember going there regularly with my da 10/12 years ago and it was great.

Davy,

Without giving too many secrets away, I assume you fish close in off the back of the pier for the wrasse?
