Fished this area as well these tactics dont really work there u wana try and use ammo sandeel(spinning tactics) light tackle had pollock to 5ib there, try it

I have never tried using ammo sandeels for pollock im not too sure how to fish them i have had plenty of success in this area with artificial eels i have had numerous pollock over the years over 5-6lbs from this area i have seen bigger being caught on home made feathers but the conditions were not favourable this weekend due to lots of weed and the strong west wind that does not suit this mark

I was spinning sandeels not a million miles from Dungloe on Saturday myself. The way I do it on shallow marks is to use a 2 inch bubble float filled until it just about floats and no more.

From this, tie on a 3 foot length on light mono, a decent weight of swivel, then another 3 foot mono length and a pennel hook arrangement.

The float gives sufficient weight to cast - not that you need much as most of the pollock will be pretty much under your rod tip. The swivel keeps the sandeel down in the water during a slow retrieve but you can kite it to the surface by lifting the rod tip. This allows you to retrieve the eel right over the weed, following bottom as you do.

Got a couple of juvenile pollock for my trouble - so small the dropped off the hook at the surface - lucky for them and saved me handling them.
Decent sized pollock seem very thin on the ground there this year.

Will hopefully give it a try the next time im fishing for pollock it will be worth a try any pollock i have kept for the table have had either sandeels or shrimps in their intestines this weekend however the pollock were very empty they had very little in intestines
