[b]People:myself and Ronald
[b]Duration:8hrs
[b]Tide:
[b]Weather:dry but cloudy
[b]Bait:mackerel,rag and hardback crabs
[b]Rigs:simple
[b]Results:ballan wrasse,rockcook,corkwing,pollack,coalie,doggies,conger
[b]Report:Got up at 5 am to dig rag then headed up. Originally wanted to fish Ballycastle pier but a big swell made that impossible so we headed for Torr head instead. We put out conger gear ,mini rods and wrasse gear and both had fish within 2 mins.Seemed to be plenty about and the tide wasn`t running too strong(yet) There was plenty of interest in the conger baits and Ronald had a strap of about 2lb on the mini rod while trying for rockling. There was loads of small pollack and wrasse about and plenty of wrasse over 2lb just to keep things interesting. After about 3hrs the tide was hammering past (it looked like a river in flood) so we had to fish close in until it eased but there was still plenty of sport for the mini rods,in fact Ronald had the biggest wrasse 3lb 4oz on a mini rod which looked like fun,I lost a nice wrasse on a small hard back crab :( but had one of 2lb 15oz soon after which sort of made up for losing it.The tide eased after 3hrs and we put the conger gear out again and I ended up with two congers of 10lb and 3lb.The wrasse came back on the feed again for the last 2hrs and we had a few more over 2lb.Ended up with 60+ fish each, not a bad day and will definitely go back but on a smaller tide and with less tackle! :)

Def a god day but still trying to recover from the early start ,think i'll stop fishing with beachcaster, pike rod ,boat rod as loads of my better fish this year have to fell to the mini rod (4ft ugly stik bait caster costing twenty quid ) maybe proves a point that you dont have to cast far to catch decent fish as most of the time i'm fishing right under my feet

mini rods rule! how many of your other rods can you say have caught you over 30 species of fish. and to think they all laughed at us us when we bought them.now everyone has one!
maybe bring a rope next time and try to find that deep mark further north.

where about did you fish at Torr?
did you go down the wee ropey path with the guide rope?
only tried over to the left down the grass and off the rocks, got a couple of pollock about 2lb and 3 doggies.

we didn't chance the rope :D bloody dodgy at best of times but there was a good swell running from the north so a def no no .
we fished from a ledge on the southern side ,you go through the gate to the of the car park and walk through the bracken you can see the wee harbour were the salmon netters work from ,any were you can get close to the waters edge is worth a go ,most of the wrasse came from right under our feet .
