Report:
Well finally headed out!!!!! Needed to get the lines wet and clear the head, headed for the beach, and casted out first just with the weight (casted first with a lift lead, then a gripper) to feel the ground and sus out how much weed was about, several cast in different directions and very little weed, set up the rigs casted out and line was covered in Kelp, and mermaids hair grrrr 10 minutes clearing it, second cast snagged, shock leader line got snagged on something so let the line sit for a while see if it would dislodge itself after an hour no joy lost the shock leader and rig, then third cast line was covered again  at this stage i was thinking of packin and accepting a blank from this spot and trying somewhere else, until I seen Bren walking down the beach with rods over his shoulder, so I moved around a bit trying to escape the snaggy ground and after a while and the loss of more tackle finally found a spot with little weed, and snag free :D Happy days... first cast out Mackerel.... then hooked into several nice whitting after the Macks moved off.....How did Bren do I hear ya ask.... Well it was like fishin with a pro, he stayed his ground was into mackerel before me, then hooked into a couple of nice whitting as well, thing was we were both lookin for doggies or something in that lines... but macks and whitting were the order of the day!, until Bren got one hell of a pull on his rod, then another, as he was on the retrive the rod was kicking (you all now what that feels like right???) this fish was gonna be BIG.. ... ... boom ... the line went quiet... at the last minute in the surf ... the fish broke free... on closer inspection... the fish bit through a 20lb snood  it was the thing to wet our appettie to know something was swimming out there with a bit of teeth.. we hung on till about 12:30am still catching various size whitting until the crabs decided they were getting hungry and i pulled out some nice size velet crabs.. hence we knew the toothed one was gone... Last fish of the night was a small whitting, the same size as the hook  Al and Jordan sadly I have to report I blanked on Weevers though!! But ever since the Weever episode I've been very careful to look at the fish BEFORE I grab them off the hook!! still amazed how much small whitting look like weevers in the dark! Oh and Bren and meself were wondering was FishFace out last night as we kept seeing a LIGHT going on and off in the distance, we couldn't be sure if it was a lighthouse or Fishface dancing???

Dave pity we blanked there the last time , but in all honesty it was a great way to blank!!! A bit of craic mixed with hardcore casting!! ... I'll explain........ Went out on Saturday to the same place and drew a blank not suprised really though VERY heavy Surf (waves hitting the shore over 6' mark at stages) alot of weed, on shore wind, definetly not ideal fishing conditions....BUT a great time to get those powerful power cast done, lost a 3oz weight due to a crack off with muppets attached, seemingly the shock leader and everything else transfered the true weight on to the muppet main line and cracked it off right at the swivel  (didnt know i could do that :D) thankfully a safe crack off straight out to sea!!! Tried poolbeg earlier that day and that was interesting as well, waves crashing right over the wall along the pier lenght... though did notice a couple of lads at the lighthouse .. one was retriving something (couldnt see from the distance what though) when a wave washed right over him!!!!!!! thankfully he was still there when the wave went ... a very lucky boyo!!! and met one of the lads i know and the same happened to him... though he was on the top rocks of the lighthouse.. he packed up to go home and get into dry clothes :D Seasons are definetly changing!!!!! Al ;) Winter whitting King hmm sounds good to me!!! :D time me thinks i invest in a nice warm floatation suit.. with handwarmers  ... OH anybody else hear that we are expecting snow for Halloween??? wonder if the cod know that? :)

Sure was Kev but a great days crack was had even if the birds started diving for fish after we had packed up and they where only yards out from where we had set up.....

Glad you didn't put up the beach buddy on the beach would of liked to see that float away mind you with that swell guess it would come straight back in and boy where there some waves on poolbeg on the walk down to try and spin a bit was hard enough to stay on the pier without going in2 the drink.

You fancy chucking a line out on Thursday. Pm Me..
