Report: Only getting the chance now to post the results of the Lough Foyle Shore Angling Festival. We had a brilliant weekend fishing with a total of 498 fish caught. Hopes weren't high for the Roe on the Saturday as we fished a filling tide but we couldn't have been more wrong as mid way through the fill the fish came on the feed and fishing was pretty hectic with a total of 261 fish caught and a fair few fish lost to the bolders! Heavy rain then made bringing fish to measuring stick pretty hard as the bolders became really slippy! 6 o'clock came and signalled the end of the first day and everybody was already looking forward to fishing Longfield on the Sunday! We were only supposed to fish 4 hours on the Sunday but opted to start an hour early as the fishing had been so good on the Roe! I arrived late and was still feeling the effects of the feed of drink i had on the Saturday night but got set up and knew that conditions were perfect for some good fishing as the was was nice and choppy and there was a good colour in the water! First cast i was straight into a double and this set the scene for the day! Most anglers in the low pegs were steady catching fish but the higher pegs weren't doing so well! Longfield produced some of the best fishing that i have ever experienced in a match and by the end of the day i had bagged 32 fish which gave me a first in my zone but i still didn't think i had a chance of getting placed in the prizes as on the Saturday i was 4th in my zone! I have listed the full results below! Looking forward to next year already! Hopefully it will be bigger and better next year and we get allot more anglers!

It's a brilliant venue, with usually very fair fishing, when the water's coloured the fish really feed. When there is a wind blowing i cant see why anyone would want to pass this venue and fish Benone.
Excellent report ronan, much better attempt than this months sea angler

Ditto !
The Roe Estuary & Long fields are about as good as Match venues get...
The Foyle 2 Day Shore Angling Festival will undoubtedly become one of the main events on the calendar.

Yeh, Longfields is a super fair venue with very good clean pegs to fish from. Cant wait till next year to have another crack at the two dayer. Any sign of a spring comp on it Ronan or does it not fish at this time of year?

Brillaint Fair venues, unlike the "lottery" venues of the north coast!
Well run match and looking forward to next years!
