Fished greenore beach in the hope of a bass yesterday evening. Hooked into a decent fish on a jelly sandeel imitation but came off after stripping line for 7 or 8 seconds  so never got to see what it was. Didn't feel like a mackerel though. Got three macs on a small plug close to last light. There was plenty of activity in the water with trout jumping clear out of the water in close and shoals of sprats being herded to shore as the water erupted in a feeding frenzy. It was great to see :D I couldn't tempt the feeding fish with anything I had with me but enjoyed the evening nonetheless

Was that adjacent to the pier? If so were you not crowded out by the "mackie bashers"?

Nah I drove as far as I could to the end of the track along the beach and started from there... Near the pole. The low tides made fishing a bit snaggy but it was worth a cast anyway. At one stage I counted 22 mackie bashers at the car park

Id say you were into a seatrout dac, the bass have been very very scarce in that area for the last few years now. Even the mackie bashers are not having much luck and i'd say thats why the bass are scarce.
