Hit the beach around 9pm to see a large group of anglers on the beach so looked like a good sign.
Got the gear setup and fired out the baits at distances but nothing was happening, went for a quick chat with the folks up the beach and they had the same story.
At this stage i was considering packing up but said i'd give it another hour, have a pot noodle and wait for high tide.
Soon after i finished my supper the rods went crazy both goin at the same time so had to make a chance, so i loosen the drag on 1 of the reel and took the rod with the crab bait on it. reel up the loose line and lifted into the fish it felt like a good1. put up a good struggle but finally tailed him( a 4lb-5lb smoothie a nice fish) and let him back took abit to recover but he swam off strong enough after a few minutes.
Went to check on the second rod hoping it had not been pulled of the tripod, reeled in the line but the fish was long gone.
Every cast was gettin takes so put away the second rod. The fish seemed more interested in the rag then the crab baits.
This lasted for about an hour some great fishin. The smoothhounds were all in the 4-5lbs weight, a few dogfish and a first eel from the sea.( little fella wrecked my rig not fun covered in slime a right off).
23rd
abit of float fishing and spinning around hookhead. Early morning with a rising tide.
Some nice wrasse and pollock taken on the float some lovely coloured fish.
Did abit of spinning hoping for a few macks but nothing was shown, there was no birds divin so must'nt be many around yet. hopefully in the next few weeks. lets hope this warm weather helps.
