Report:So this is how it works. Over the week I watch the tides, weather etc. and select a species and or beach that should offer the best chance of fishing. I called Gordy and we agreed. Then a report from eyesreilly goes up and between Roger and and Gordy I'm completely over ruled and my plan goes out the window!
So off we set with me carrying a sulk. We needed to pick up some crab and we were having no luck until Roger called
Gotcha Angling in Greystones. We were told that John had some in stock and we popped in to pick them up. Very nice guy and lovely shop too. I wish him all the best and I'll be in again soon for sure! Bag of chips and we were off.
As we set up the realisation that nobody had double checked the tides meant it was nearly full tide. We set up just before the rain started and started to lob out baits. Roger and Gordy had a steady stream of flat and pups coming in for the first hour. Then Gordy got a bang and reeled in a nice schoolie of 36cm. I was next up with a bite and reeled in a 2lb hound hooked to another trace. I unhooked the poor fish who must have been hooked there since the night before and pocketed the weight! There was no shockleader on the line I pulled out!! Gordy pulled out a load of line later with a similar trace and no leader attached. No wonder someone was cracking off!

A few lads came down and set up beside us. Mitch from the site introduced himself and we had a grand old natter. Most of which was me moaning about the lads not letting me fish further south!
As the tide continued to drop I got nothing while Roger was nailing the flounders and managed a treble at one point. Gordy picked up more pups and a nice tub gunard too. It wasn't until later that I started to pick up fish at distance which were dabs, pups and a doggie. Then my rod got a wallop and I reeled in a hound of about 4-5lb. Took a few minutes to land as I had it on 20lb braid. Great craic! The fish took rag on a size 2 kamasan

At 12 we decided to pack it up and head home. Big Sod, Tony and Drummer were fishing down from us and they stayed on so might have picked up some more fish in the dark. Turned out to be a good session in the end with a few fish taken against the tide.
