Report:
After the Marathon session at the weekend the last place I thought I'd be ending up again during the week was Rathmullan, but Bingham was up for a session and since we knew it was fishing well we decided to give it another go.
Left sunny Millisle at 6am and made it back to Rathmullan at 9am when the fishing began in earnest, We must have hit it right on the button as we both immediately started into the Rays. LW slack seems to be a very handy time to be down there.
Set up a rod to try for a tope, 2 Size 4/0 Meat Hooks Pennelled onto 100lb Mono a Joey head and tailed then whipped on with plenty of Elastic, Which immediately caught me a raymond. surprise.
Bingham caught the first Dragonette I have ever seen, good to see him right enough, and a belter to have on the species list for the year. After collecting enough Mackeral for bait I tried a small loop over below the boats, managed my second Silver eel of my lifetime from the sea! Twice in as many weeks, who'd have thought it!
As the tide picked up, holding bottom became an issue and for around 4 hours Bingham was the only one to pick up a single solitary ray.
Luckily we got to redeem ourseleves with the arrival of HW Slack, and the rays came back on the feed, including a new PB for Bingham.
All great fish to keep the rods nodding and the lines pulled. Roll on the next one.
