Report: We were supposed to be going out on a boat in courtown trying for some tope but mother nature put an end to that when met eireann put out a small craft warning. But as we had been set on going fishing we decided to go out depside the crazy weather. Magpie01 lives right beside killiney beach so we decided to give it ago as we hadnt fished it in about a year. Things didnt start of great when I realised i had forgot the mack. And we only lasted a hour on the beach before we realised that we were wasting our time. The sea was so rought even with 6oz breakaway leads our rigs were getting washed back into shore, Plus the stands kept getting knocked over but the wind.
My brother had enough and decided to head home but despite the lashing rain and wind myself and the other lads were determined to stay out, So we packed up into the van decided to try bray harbour for somewere with a little shelter.
We arrived and drove the van right up the pier to block the wind and it made the conditions just about bearable. We unpacked the fan set up our gear and no soon had we cast out that we spotted two dolphins right infront of us ! As great as it was to see them up close we couldnt beleive our luck nothing was going right for us. But we decided to fish on and see what happened as it couldnt get any worse. But it did!!! half a hour later a seal arrived on the sceen and seemed to pop up at the places we had just casted
(is this usually what they do ?) Anyway like i said we were out so we were staying out.
As usual with bray our hooks were all coming back stripped bare because of them dam crabs

Im used to this but was annoyed this time because id had forgotten the mack. Anyway despite the weather id decided to use a float rig to keep my bait away from the crabs and it paid off as after about a hour the float dissapeard and i pulled up a small shanny. This really made my evening as a reward for everything that had gone wrong and staying out in that weather had all been worth it because I had managed to get myself a new species. Unfortunatly the others didnt have the same luck.
Have a couple of pics that i'll add once JacktheLad emails me them.
Just one last thing anyone looking for decent rag i dont think you'll do better than dave in celtic baits, They were HUGE.
