Shannon Estuary 12th june

Sun Jun 12, 2011 9:50 pm

People:ME

Duration: Too Long

Tide: Incoming

Weather: Messy

Bait: Mack & Sandeel

Rigs: Pennels & 2 hook

Results: Not even a crab

Report: Got a green card today to head out fishing, so set off early to make the most of the day. The plan was to fish a mark that i had never fished before but also to have a nosy at another couple of marks. Had a look at the other markers but with the wind and rain the mark that i wanted to fish was the most sheltered so set up the gear and waited and waited and waited. Worked my way from one end of the mark to the other varied the casting distances, short of throwing bloody dynamite i tried everything but it was just not meant to be today, oh well just roll on the next session.
About an hour into the session something started to break the surface out in front of me, wasn't a seal but almost sure it was an otter, great to see if you are not fishing not to good if you are.

We did the Clare mark you fished a few weeks ago. six hours six rods not a bite! it was like the place had been netted.

Definately won't go down in the memory as an enjoyable experience  Am planning to take a trip up the Galway area during the summer or else up the westport direction, Doug in a shore thing has tweaked the interest :D :D Fished around salthill during college, I think, college in Galway can be a blur

Brian i tried everything short of diving in  but thats the enjoyment of fishing, sometimes it works and sometimes it don't  Roll on the next trip. Hi Neil, it would not surprise me if it was netted, a few years back i was fishing the area and a boat came right up the channel and he was no pleasure craft  also happened down in Kilkee a few years back, boat came in almost to the pier, i was waiting to hear him beach the yoke but no such joy :|
