Report:we decided to head over to rathlin island for the weekend, so we got the ferry at ballycastle. when we got there we had a long walk ahead of us with all the gear, it wasnt easy but was well worth it when we arrived, we set up camp and got set up and thumped the rods out, it was dropping dwn dark we got r first fish a dog fish, it was very slow at the start then daniel got a wack on his rod when he was reeling in he sensed that it was bigger than a dog, he reeled on up and it was a small bull huss at 4 lb 7 oz. then just more dogs. we packed up and got some kip from r eventful day. got up got some breakfast and a brew and headed out first thing. the fishing was execellent on sat with geting pollock the biggest at 3lb 2 0z on float and spinning tactics and some good wrasse on ragworm. all and all great session and the weather was class and hope to get back real soon.

thanks dave its a great spot to fish but its a long haul with all the gear to the fishing spot cause most of the island is high cliffs the whole way round it leaves just a few marks to fish and there about 3 r 4 mile walk away. but well worth it when u get there.

No worries mate! It is a bit of a hike to the north side but it's well worth it and if you camp in church bay its a lot closer. Here's a few pics from my last trip..

i'm the same boss - never knew that at all or i'd be over like a shot - have you ever seen the admiralty charts for the back of the island, there are some seriously deeps waters out there.

Yeah it's deep on the north side although it's not an easy place to get too, took us a few go's to find a way down! It rarely, if ever, gets fished. Fished Bull Point in the boat too and its freaky deep. We were no further out than 20m off the rocks and sitting in 90  . It then went on in steps down to 180 then 300+. No hope in hell of getting there from the shore tho!
