Beara sport

Wed Jun 01, 2011 5:47 pm

People:Roger & me

Duration:1300-1800

Tide:HW at 1258

Weather:SW wind about force 5/6. Dry

Bait:Bread for mullet. Rubber worms for pollack Asstd colours

Rigs: float & spinning

Results:Between us 12 mullet to 4lbs. 40+ pollack to 5lbs.
Met up with Roger from the Uk for a mullet session and the ground bait soon brought them in and got them feeding. Lost as many as we landed (well I did) with some good fish hanging off from the main shoal but proving hard to tempt. Mullet were quite thin for this time of year but they will soon fatten up and weigh a bit heavier.
Went after the pollack in between times when the mullet went on the missing list and took fish from 1lb upwards. As usual lost a couple of bigger fish which found the sanctuary of a ledge or kelp before they could be stopped but plenty of taking fish made it a real fun session.

Won't take too much begging when the fishing gets into full swing. A few over nighters on the cards i'd say.

Great fishing Paul. Another few specimen mullet on the way for you this year no doubt, when they start to feed a bit harder and put on a bit more muscle. They sound like a good stamp of pollack ye were getting too. I take it no basking sharks came after the bread flakes this time

Hope to see ya soon,
Tight line,
Evan
