Leenan Beach and Fahan

Sun May 22, 2011 4:03 pm

People: Just me

Duration: 6 hours (4 Lennan/2 Fahan)

Tide: Ebb and bit of flood

Weather: Horrendous!! (sw 25-30!)

Bait: Mack, Sandeel, squid, rag

Rigs: Up and Over Flowing Pennel, Pulley Pennel

Results: 1 x Turbot (Lennan) 10+ x LSD (Fahan)

Report:

First time fishing North Donegal in years so took some advice from you guys and headed up to Leenan first. Hefty S-SW blew me off the pier so tried the beach or rather the rocks to the left of the beach to find some shelter  . Got a monstrous turbot (see pic) and a few flounder before the fishing died off over LW. So headed to Fahan for the last few hours. Only just missed the tide on Fahan but did manage to loose count with the doggies. No rays unfortunately and the weed (the soul destroying stringy stuff) picked up just before I had to leave. Met a friendly chap on Fahan who had a few rays just before I arrived...typical

Many thanks to Sweetwrasse, Cathald and Fishermandan007 for the mark ideas - saved me a lot of driving about looking like an idiot - cheers guys :D :D :D

I did kind of the same thing but in the other direction. Fahan was the same for me, doggie after doggie although some of them were a decent size. Gave up there when it started hammering down and sought shelter elsewhere. Found Leenan but then bugged out as it was a little exposed.

Better get my report up properly I suppose.
