People: My sad lonely self!!!
Duration:20:00 to 24:00
Tide:It was fairly high but I dont know if it was incoming out outgoing.
Weather:Windy and sunny to start but became calm later
Bait:Mackeral strips and a small spoon
Rigs:Two hook paternoser with a 4oz grip lead
Results:4 codling to around 1 1/2lbs, 1 small whiting, a thornback ray(small), 1 pollack of around 1lb. 2 mackeral(stopped fishing for them when I had enough bait, 1 small strap conger, 1 nice Skad and around 8 big doggies I thout some of them were around 5lbs but I'm bad at guessing the weight of sea fish. The local mackeral bashers put them at around 10lbs which makes them really bad at guessing weight because there was no way in hell they were that big.
Report:I have fished ballycotton quite a bit of the last few weeks but all I caught were mackeral and doggies(were nowhere near as big as the ones last night). Last night I fished from the front of the pier as I got there before the crowd arrived and things were much better when fishing into the deeper water. I missed heaps of bites aswell.
Really enjoyed myself

Sorry, Forgot to log in before posting that report.
I reckon that the pier must be a great spot for codling in the winter. Will be working in cork until november at least so should be able to provide updates up until then. I'm not much of a sea fisherman so I wouldnt put too much faith in my reports being a reflection on what a good angler could catch. If Anyone is planning to give it a go on a weekday evening in the next few months, it would be great if they could let me know as I am curious to see what a decent angler could do with different baits, rigs, etc.

Hello,
Sounds like a good session you had there. I think those large doggies could possibly be bull huss.

Thanks John,
I looked up bull huss on the net. It does look like thats what I caught alright. Think I got around 5 of them. The other 3 were definetly lesser spotted doggies

Hi Eddie
Sounds like a great session I don't think there's many expierienced sea anglers that would improve greatly on your results. Nice One keep up the good work.
