Hi all, people who read all the forum posts already know that i'm new to this beachcasting area of the fishing sport.
Thanks to the dedication of Paul who met me late enough last night when he had other things to be doing, I am now the proud owner of a Ian golds Extractor, Surf 8000 reel, tripod and a few other essentials. I already spent a lot of time preparing rigs etc and now think that i'm ready to drown a worm or two.

But,,, When i read this type of report it really makes me worry if and how I can be allowed REALLY into the sport as the location of fishing marks are regularly kept secret from the forum members which I understand to a point but that doesn't help me. I have done other types of fishing before and always practice catch and release, use a disgorger unhooking mat etc.

Its a real pity that with the miles of coastline that we have and the limited amount of shore anglers that this low population island has compared to some countrys that he have to protect our fishing marks to this level.

Thanks.

Without protection the good marks will be fished to death.
Conservation is the main driver behind anglers keeping hotspots a secret.
I'm not saying your wrong, it is a topic that merits debate, but if you flick back through the forum;
there are hundreds of posts giving location and catch reports.

happy angling amigo

See nothing wrong, Lads are criticised for revealing marks and others criticised for not revealing marks, in my opinion its entirely up to the individual posting. Plenty of lads will help you out mech1 unlike many other sports ours is not elitist.

Howdy.just thought I would point out a little gem on this site that you may not know about .........the PM button.If lads think you are genuinely stuck for a mark and not just lazy I'm certain the majority of members would help you out, just maybe not out here for everyone to flock to! Personally I have received excellent info on here at times.cheers lads

I am always happy to bring someone out fishing or let them know where im catching but if I mention this mark in a public forum the guys or a particular lady who is well known with a well equipped boat will clean the patch of sand and rocky shore as there are people on this forum who have fished with me before know I don't give away my marks freely its just that beach hasn't fished in years and all of a sudden its full of fish again I used to put up posts before and arrive at marks or beaches and next thing there goes yer wan with her trawler up down and around.....

As I've said before-
nobody has to name the exact beach/mark if they don't want to. It is helpful to at least specify the general area. Eg East coast Wexford, South Dublin, East Cork near Youghal etc...
