Scorching
Decided to skip off work early and enjoy the sun. So decided to float fish the West Pier DunLaoire
Had the gear in boot still from the weekend so I thought! Arrived at Mikes Bikes DL and discovered I had a tool box with crappy bits and pieces, 4 reels but no rods, mustv cleared out the boot and forgot.
Picked up 20 rag in Mikes and inquired was what was their rock bottom cheapest rod, 17 yo yo so no thanks, got the rag some size 2 hooks and a float.
Ran round to the 2 euro shop, for 5 euro I got a spiffy pair of shades, a bottle of 7up and a plastic fishing kit!
Managed to squeeze the smallest reel I had on the "rod", The float I bought was too big so I used the one that came in the kit.
Was getting bites almost every cast, I could see the fish at the bait, the float went under again and again, but the hook was too big.
Great fun. Caught 11 mini wrasse, all ballan and I think one goldshinny could be wrong and one little pollock. The lightest gear imaginable. great sport and great way to spend a couple of hours in the sun. Fished inside the last elbow on the pier.
The water was black or silver I should say with sand eels, would've been fun if I had a mini spinner of sabikis!
So there you go, successful fishing for 8 euro! Only reme, ber now that it also came with a few tiny hooks and a few split leads, damn!
Gonna keep it in my boot.
