Report:
Well Easter Weekend was approaching and time to hit west. A last minute call with Dan decided it for us, we will take a day off work and head for a westie session. After some debate we decided on the Mark, one we hadn’t fished before. So up early on Friday and hit for Galway to meet Dan. 2hrs later and a quick bacon sandwich and we were off to the Mark. Stopped on the way and collected some lug and arrived around 14:00. The Tide was about two hours before full so we had both sides of the tide to experiment in. We set up two rods each with three hook flappers one out far and one in the suds. On the first cast Dan lost a small flat in the surf. On my first retrieve I had a Flounder just under 30cm, so Blank saved and things were looking good. Dan was next in with a greedy Flounder that took two hooks (which was to become a common theme for Dan as the day went on!

). There was a constant flow of flounder all day on both rods ranging in the 15 – 30cm mark and a couple of double shots. The total results were me 6 Flounder and Dan 8 flounder (lucky git pulled in two just before we packed up). But suppose he deserved it as he had three flounder that took both hooks…..
On the way back we decided to stop off for an hour at a pier to try and up the species list. First cast resulted in a nice Ballen Wrasse for me (new species) and also a Sea Scorpion for Dan (new species)

. I lost a sea scorpion which would also have been a new species but next time as the saying goes

. Things went quite after that and it was time for supermack’s and a beer. All in all a good day out and some nice results.
