Myself
Weather: Beautiful
Bait: Rag, mack, razor
Tide: Way out
2pm-6pm
Rigs: everything I could think of and float
Result: 3 Ballan Wrasse and a doggie.
Headed to Westport four a couple of days with the girlfriend, was told I could disappear for the afternoon on Saturday so off I went.
Got some good info on Mulranny Pier from Doggie3131. Managed to book the last box of rag from Doug so had all the bait I wanted.
Felt like a challenge so decided to fish Mulranny at the exact opposite of when it fished best.

There's one thing sneaking off in the day time when your on a weekend away but trying to walk out the door in your gear at 10pm is not as easy!
The tide was way out so wasn't ideal so I was targeting specific spots when casting. Had two rods, one out over sandy spots and the over rough ground.
Got a wrasse on rag straight away over rough ground, the rod over sand not so much as a nibble. Got plenty of bites here and there over the rough ground but was loosing gear frequently, even pulley rigs were getting lost. Put a float out and got a wrasse but it was proving difficult to cast the float where I wanted it.
Feeling a bit ambitious I put out baits for thornies, mack and razor sausages but no joy. Got a doggie in the end which was a welcome sight.
None of the wrasse were much bigger then my hand but what can you do, Noel and Doug both told me it fished better after dark and on the full tide but beautiful day, beautiful scenery not a speck of litter will certainly be back to fish in optimum conditions.
