People:myself
Duration:20.00 till 23.00
Tide:hw 21.30
Weather:mild
Bait:fresh crab
Rigs:flappers
Results:painted ray 10.5 lb,dogs,codling
Report:with the calm weather i decided to fish local and see was there any ray about. the night started very slow not a bite for the first hour was thinking of packing up when i spotted the rod tip giving a few slight knocks thought to myself here come the pickers. couple seconds later the tip of the rod headed for the ground grabbed the rod and started reeling could feel the power of a nice fish thought i had hooked a bass until i saw the tail kicking up through the breaking waves

couple of seconds later had a nice ray at my feet result. got it weighed on certified scales 4.79 kg cheers tom. new pb for me. every cast after that found the fish all dogs and small codling up to 38 cm . good friday turned into great friday for me

cheers paul ya i took it for the table. i dont kill every fish i catch but i do enjoy to eat my catch on occasion. i am fully aware of catch and realese and all the benefits of it and i teach my kids to be conservation minded when fishing but i also believe the odd fish coming home for the pan is ok so long as it is not wasted. i didnt just take it home for the sake of the picture and then toss it in the bin which i have seen fellas do

57 ray i caught last year i kept 4 for the pan some people might not like that but such is life.
i didnt post the pics to upset or offend anyone please dont turn this thread into a catch and release debate we have had enough of them on here already and they always end up turning sour
tight lines

Great catch John, shame your report (and thanks for sharing the pics) had to be ruined by yet another muppet who gives out about keeping one fish.
