Report:

Another fantastic Friday fishing! Thursday night I'd been over at Livids, making sure he wasn't dead, and generally catching up, we'd been discussing his coming out of fishing retirement for quite some time, and after some gentle persuasion, the offer of rigs and bait, he agreed that he'd come out and give it a go! 1/2 an hour sorting out his tackle and the oul Daiwa Sandstorm and Surfmaster combo was back in working order!
9am start Friday morning, a groggy Livid and I made our way to Starbucks for a Venti Cappucino and to wait for McKees opening at 10am. Got to Harrys for some bait, and some light hearted slagging. I'd broken open the "New toy" tin during the week, discovering I'd £240 for some new gear, so after various questions, decisions and contimplations, I'd treated myself to a heap of new terminal tackle, A 8'6 Savage gear lure rod, rated 20 to 60g, complete with a Shimano Exage 4000RCDH spinning reel, a lovely balanced set up, along with a couple of Yo-zuri plugs.
So on to Waterfoot, after looking at a few spots it was decided we'd hit Waterfoot beach, an old favourite which seldom lets you down, got set up below the flat roof, and laughed while Livid attempted to fathom a Loop rig! But first casts were made, Fishing 1 Rod Close and 1 at Distance I soon had a Fiesty little 5 beard flapping about on the beach, good start, or so I thought! Livid said he was getting touches so brought his gear in to find a nice double of Flounder on the rag.
After this, and for the rest of the push there was plenty of Flounder action to keep us occupied, well, me anyway, Livid had another Flounder too which firmly removed the curse of the "master blanker".
At around 4.30 we decided to call it quits, but not before stopping off at Garron point for a few chucks with the new toy! No hits, but I'm get I got using it. Livid also picked up a load of brilliant pictures with his camera, which joined us on the visit, really picked up the atmosphere of the day.
Off to Carnlough for a now traditional dinner from the Galley, to find it filled with easily in excess of 15 customers, had to wait a while for the grub this week! lol
Got back to Livids for around 7.30pm, and returned a call to Sheppy, he'd got his new Salt MX beachcaster and wanted to see what it could do, Donaghadee? Yeah, ok.
Got set up, on the rails and over the back wall, Sheppy managed a Shorey, then managed to christen his new rod with a plump 5 beard which couldn't resist the rag.
I had been spinning a wedge across the harbour most of the night, had a couple of bumps but no contact, so switched over to a freelined Ragworm which I flicked out and retrieved slowly through mid water, Started picking up plenty of Pollack and Coalies on the new rod, spent most of the time playing with the fighting drag on the reel, but still fun to get a couple of screaming little runs from the fiesty coalies under my feet.
All in all, a brilliant day.
