People: Me
Duration: 6.45 am - 10.45 am
Tide: High around 10.30ish
Weather: Fine, then rain.
Bait: Lure
Rigs:
Results: 5 Pollock, best 5lb, 1 @ 3lb, the rest around the 2lb mark.
Report: Wasn't really expecting much, just wanted to get out and try the new rod and reel, it was my first first session of the year, but turned out to be a great session and the new rod got a bit of a battering too. Started of with a Kilty just to get the feel of the rod, stayed with that for about half an hour and didn't get any takes. I want to concentrate on SP's this year so changed over to a 6" Mother Worm and thats when the action started to happen, all within about 45 minutes. Savage takes, makes it worth while fishing with very light braid with a light set up . I think the fish are lazy at this time of year when theres not alot of bait fish about and don't like using alot of energy chasing Kiltys and prefer slower type lures, just a thought.

Were the takes far out or in close. Was thinking of doing some flyfishing for pollock. I could only imagine the crack a 5lb'er would be on the fly line

Lenny, the takes were close all within 20 feet, I missed a few too, as soon as the water got a bit choppy they were gone, its a bit hit or miss out there, I'd like to try it just as its getting bright on a high tide but would have to get there in the dark, which is a bit scary, I once got there too early when it was dark and had to wait until it brightened up a bit.

Thanks for the bit of hard earned advice Richie. Glad to hear they are within reach. Had a quick look on Google Map and all the fishie spots look very difficult to get at. I'll have to take a few hours some day and have a ramble around to try and find some access to the rockier marks. Thanks again Richie.
