Finished work and had the rod and waders in the car so headed off to Strangford to give the sea trout a go.Have had a few this season but nothing over 2lb.Got to the mark, quickly set up and got into the water.First cast about half way down the retrieve i seen a bit of a splash behind the spinner so recast in the direction of the splash and bang fish on.This chap put up one hell of a fight on the spinning rod.Got him landed,weighed and photographed.Unfortunately the fish had taken the spinner down well and I spent the next hour in the water with the fish trying to help it recover but it wasnt to be and that was the session over.Packed up and headed for home.

Great fish mate, well done. I think the blood in the photo shows there was not much hope of saving the fish.

Up until now this season the Sea Trout i have been catching were about the 2lb mark but didnt see any point posting about those wee chaps.Just thought this one was worth a mention.
Im still kind of annoyed it didnt go back.

well done that man, that's a crackin fish mate, I bet it did put up some scrap. I'm tryin to get my first on the fly rod from the lough seen a few fish at a few marks but no joy just yet, had a few on the bait rod. But like you said in the report nothing to write home about.

cracking trout colin . sadly you can't help them from getting deep hooked sometimes, just the way it is man. but fair play for trying to get him back again. i'm sure he was put to good use
