Saturday 2nd April
People: Just me
Duration: 5 hours
Tide: High
Weather: Sunny and warm to begin with (10c)
Bait: Rag and squid
Rigs: ledgering and spinning
Results: Few bites ledgering with the rag but nothing big enough to strike.
Report: So I arrived down at Colliemoore Harbour at about 8am and went out on the small pier in the middle.
As above, I did get a few bites at the early stage and as the day wore on it got less and less.
I spent a good 45 mins to an hour spinning as well and that threw up nothing either.
This is my 3rd time down at colliemoore in the last 4 weeks and still have had no joy.
I presume its just that little bit too early in the year and water is too cold etc etc.
When I was there last week I tried prawns as bait for a change as I have heard of people catching with prawn there before.... nada !!!
A group of 4 lads were down on the big rock down at the little park there further down (forget the name) and they seemed to have a serious setup but didnt see them catch a thing. And then at around 12 a group of 3 lads came down colliemoore and casted off on the other pier over the little wall. Two of them were snagged and lost a tonne of gear within their first 5 mins there. They were using squid and feathers but i didnt hang around long enough to see if the caught anything.
In summary, now does not seem to be a good time for colliemoore harbour and the general concencus I have been hearing that it never really is. Iv been advised to head further south to the likes of bray and greystones.
