me, Dave, Graham
all states of tide
rigs pulleys 3/0 4/0
bait mackeral sandeel squid
weather lashing rain all night lovely and sunny spells next day
results me 16 doggie 5 thornie Dave 13 doggies 6 thnornies Graham 6 doggies 6 thornies
As already lost 2 lovely detailed reports it took me an hour to type this is the slimmed down version. Dave arrived at 11 in morning had 2 ray and lots doggies before we arrived at 8 30, we had baits in water with great expectaions by 9 but plauged with doggies but i had a good one of 3lbs 3ozs then Graham had enough of the rain an wimped off back to the car  he missed daves giant a doggie of 4lbs and 4ozs (2 nasal flaps for a doggie????)we are 90% sure its doggie if anyone can tell for sure from bad pics please do.Back t the car for me and Dave a 3 30 up at 7 30 and back to mark for dropping tide first casts doggie for GraHam and me then Gaham had ray of 2lbs 2oz then me 4lbs 3ozs then Graham had a monster of 2lbs 5 ozs  next was me after a 10 min struggle pulled in a nice ray of 9 lbs 9 oz Dave next 6lbs 8oz after that it was a ray every ten mins or so bar an hour or so of a quite patch lovely days fishing, as it was our first ray session we were wondering coud anyone tell us why the night before was so quite we fished same tide but zero ray, thinking it might be the bad weather or maybe they dont feed well at night. many thanks to the lads off the site who gave us great info.We packed up at 3 30 tired and weary but very happy headed back to dublin, but we will be back for some double figure one in the summer (photos to follow)

That's great fishing lads. I can guess the spot from the last photo and it's great to see the spot fishing well. That place can give big sting ray and huss as the summer goes on. My guess on the first session would be night can often bring on the dogs and straps in the estuary who out feed the ray.

thanks Donagh, yeah the dogs were on the feed in a big way once darkness fell, and big sting ray during the summer would be a dream. Just to correct my original post i think Dave did a bit of study on the huss vs doggie problem and is now of the opinion that its a huss that has 2 nasal flaps so there is his pb doggie down the drain

Its great to see the Shannon estuary getting great reports.
I remember not so long ago some so called expert on the Shannon estuary who knew so much about how bad the fishing is there, tried to knock the place..... saying the fishing isnt great down there and over rated...

The fishing in the estuary has always been consistent :D :D :D

Good session lads, those 'smooth' thornies seem to be native to that particular spot. Glad it all worked out ok for you down there.
