People: Myself
Duration: 8 - 10pm
Tide: High at 9:30pm
Weather: Wet but not windy
Bait: Mackerel & Sandeel
Rigs: 2 hook flapper / Condor bar, Dexter wedge
Results: Few small pollock & coalies on bait & lures - added bonus of masses of weed!
Report:
Last minute decision to fish for a couple of hrs last night. Only had frozen baits - no time to find lug/rag.
Weed was a major hinderance clogging up the rigs on retrieve & also the lures - giving the fish very little time to hit them.
Will definitely fish this place more often and come better prepared next time.
On another note - what are the regulations for Sea Trout in NI compared to rest of the country - licence reqd? Only ask as there were multitudes jumping in front of me last night - obviously none were too interested in my lures though.

If you catch a sea trout at sea and providing its big enough and your keeping it to eat, knock it over the head and put it in your box.
I've watched guys for year fishing sea trout on the antrim coast without a licence, didn't seem to effect their catch rate either 8) and don't think your ever gonna sea a baliff on the coast checking your catch and asking if you have a Game licence !! I haven't in 20+ years of sea fishing, seen plenty on the rivers when salmon fishing but thats about it.
I have a game licence cos i normally fish rivers for salmon & trout, but even if i didn't it wouldn't stop me taking a sea trout caught at sea home for dinner.

Yep for Salmon & Seatrout you need a license, tho the only time I can remember FCB trying to enforce this was when all the salmon escaped from the cages at Glenarm. Was at Cushendall beach myself last friday at dusk didnt realise there was a festival on - 4 youths tried unsuccessfully to set fire to the bushes at the edge of the beach felt a little vulnerable as there was so little people about!
Didnt catch anything but was using old frozen mackeral - did see a fish take a fly might have been a pollack though.
