Weather;fine at first but heavy rain from 21.00pm.wind southerly at first but veered to west/northwest at 22.00pm

Rigs;flappers

Bait; macks,whitebait

Results;myself 2 seatrout and 2 coalies,,,,,,,,,,,tex;1 seatrout,1 flounder and 1 coalie

Report///// terry and i had planned a cast for wednesday which was today since last weekend.i left me number with alby to see if his mad cousin was going to join us but it wasnt to be. since the seas where very heavy we were not sure come monday or tuesday but the wind going southerly helped bring down the swell and clear any weed.first plan was the sligo direction to strandhill.terry headed early and i was to follow later.just as i was about to head down i relaised i had a puncture and had no spare either so rushed into ballina to get a tyre in which terry had rang me to say strandhill was unfisable due to the sea;s and the surges.so i told him of the next plan and we met in ballina and headed to our next mark.maybethis tyre went for a reason????.when we got to our mark it was dark but dry.we both set up two rods with flappers and waited patiently for the fish to strike.it was with my first cast, which i reeled a small trout.couldnt believe that i caught one at night.waited and another half before i landed me second one and a bigger fish.i could see terry getting his knife ready   .after that i got two coalies and terry had a flounder by then.the wind had changed course at aroud 22.00pm and the fished went dead.nearer to home time terry got a nice strike, and landed a small trout.his face lit up  .on the last cast terry landed a small coalie and we headed for home as we sick of the rain and both agreed we enjoyed it

great to see the trout showing up at night

nice trout brian, seatrout would always feed much more confidently in a river at night brian, and thats when you would get the bigger ones....i can't see the them being any different on a shallow beach.

i definitley agree with you there noel.but what amazes me is that when i fish marks that have threw up some great trout to me during the day, that i never ever seem to pick them up at night.now thats at estuary marks, shallow beaches etc.how many times have you fished at night and never got seatrout but during the day you would be more confident.theres still plenty about aswell so why arent we getting more of them at night so if they feed better at night???????????
