Report:
Not a lot to report really; Desperate for a good session, we picked a mark, that nearly always produces fish at this time of year, would liked to have fished the beach, but we were stuck for time. As darkness arrived, so did the small whiting and coalies, stripping our baits continuously and throwing themselves onto our hooks. I think we stopped counting after about a dozen fish each. My boredom threshold arrived pretty quickly and I decided to stick a night-light on a float rig for a while, and at one stage I think, I had a dozen fish on one bit of mackerel skin. The other rods at distance were getting the odd knock, but the pulley baits were just getting stripped by crabs. I ended up putting one up, one down rigs on both distance rods, as I was determined to pick a flattie or two up, just using black lug, as the small fish just seemed to be homing in on the bait, if I tipped it with mackerel. Eventually my patience was rewarded with a small 23cm plaice, which really made my night, as I had been fishing hard for a flattie. Not much of a report really, but at least we picked up a few fish. As usual this mark, seemed to die, about 2 hours before high tide, so we headed for home at about 22:30
