Report:
Well had been over to McKees and got some Mackeral while Dan was digging on Millisle Beach. Meaning we had plenty of Lug and Mackeral for a session. But where? First thoughts were of going down the coast towards Ballyhalbert and trying the pier down there, but then I had a strange niggle later in the day and decided we'd give Bangor Pier a go.
So, got down and set up for 7pm, and immediately started getting bumps and rattles, I was first off the mark with a Pollack in the mid 20's, after that we started into the Pouting and Poor Cod which were hammering the Mackeral baits.
Dan was happy too as he had his first pouting, and first poor cod of 2011, increasing his species list to level pegging with me.
Had a great wee night, we were then joined by another angler, who set up in the corner, he turned out to not be too local, and when we asked what he'd caught he showed us 2 dead Shore Rockling.

After seeing this I wasn't for sticking around so a rethink was in order. We were back in the car for around 8.35pm and steamed off to another mark we know nearby.
I got 2 Rods set up, and Dan opted to concentrate on one this time. I fished one at distance and one practically at my feet. The distance rod was the only one that saw any action for the next hour, First off was a 35cm Coalfish which battled the whole way in, great fun. After this there was a bit of a lull with a couple of Shore crabs making an appearance. Last cast produced a brace of identical little whiting for me, and with that it was time to head home again.
Cracking night to be out with Dan.
Can't wait for the next one...
