Report: well it was the weekend again and with the forecast jordan did'nt want to venture too far from the motor, so the bass hunt was out the window again. but a venue was decided on and liam met us at the spot, which to all our surprise was empty

. so we got out and were set up in quick time and before i got myself and jordan sorted with rigs liam was already pulling in the coalies. it was pretty much non stop from start to finish with everyone getting in on the action. about half way through the session jordan's wee fingers were frozen and he hopped into the car to warm up and the duely fell asleep for an hour

. in saying that when he reappeared he got straight back into it pulling in coalie after coalie. they were just the normal 30cm sized ones but plenty of fun on the light gear. i think we all had doubles and trebles of some description during the session and the fishing was so active that we all dropped down to one rod each as it was getting a bit silly. as we got towards the end of the session i decided to try for something a bit bigger and changed over to a 4/0 3 hook flapper rig. i decided to go big on the baits with a joey on 1 hook, an entire calamari squid on the other and half a bluey on the bottom hook. within seconds of the bait hitting the water i noticed the rod tip give a wee twitch and i reeled in a wee codling not much bigger than the calamari he tried to eat

. i honestly wonder what goes on in their wee heads when they try to eat a bait the same size as themselves

. by now the bait was almost done and i gave it the old "one last cast routine" and got a pretty decent knock. i was made up to discover a nice cod on the bottom hook who ate the entire half bluey in one gulp

. not exactly what you'd call a monster by the recent reports down the south east coast, but pretty decent for up here

. by 10pm we decided to wrap it up and head into carnlough for a chinese

. cathal came down for a chat and to introduce himself as we were wrapping up, so nice to meet you man. we'll have to get a bass session sorted for the next few weeks on the north coast

. another busy weekend's fishing with plenty to go round for all the lads and the scores ended up:
ME 5 doggies, 2 codling, 4 dab, 16 coalies, 9 whiting, 11 pollock and a 5 bearded rockling
JORDAN 27 coalies, 7 whiting, 7 dab and 5 pollock
MARK 3 flounder, 5 dab, 1 pouting, 4 whiting, 18 coalies, 14 pollock and 2 doggies
