Report:mad to get out for a session and see how youghal would fish on a neap, from the off bites but 3 coalies in a row then a fish finger sized codling had me thinking shouldve stayed home but as the tide came in more the bites improved lost a good fish when my braid parted so i was staying put had no trace flouro with me so tied a 4/0 0nto the end of my braid and a 4oz gripper about 2ft up above the hook. got 2 small cod then got 5 nice codling in a row biggest a real plumper about 5lb soon forgot how cold it was 8)

Incredible Sean,

very well done, wish I could have catch codling like that on these shores. Not sure I'd class a 5lber as a codling, a COD surely?

Well done Sean. Sometimes the simplest of rigs always out fish the most complex of ones. Great emergency tactics as a lot of anglers would have given up the ghost after running out of rigs, so well done!

Well done seanie. I'm happy that you got rewarded for braving the elements by catching some nice fish 8) The cod are definatley in Cork in the minute that's for sure. Long may it continue because they are giving those of you who are fishing for them some great sport.

another cod cracking session.how is it that all the cod r in the south.i thought they like colder water temps and wud be more north.well maybe the bass and cod have changed theer likings this year.maybe the bass r all up north :mrgreen:

Some nice fishing in cork at the minute, the only cod up this way at the minute comes with chips. :roll:

Just saw this now Sean, so you braved the elements and it paid off, nice going there that 5lber would go well with big chunky chips 8) 8)
