Time: 15:00 - 0015 (High water 0030ish)
Weather: very calm, ball freezing.
Bait: Rag, Lug and mackeral.
Results: 7x Flounder to 25cm, 2x whiting...no codling or dogs??!
Had planned on heading to the North Coast for a thrash but the forecasted northerlies didn't look pleasant so headed to Cushendun to see if anything had changed since Sunday. Got fishing for 3pm and the sea was as calm as you like...perfect. The fishing was a lot slower than Sunday. The flounder were the main catch even right through the night, lug tipped with mackeral doing the business as usual!
Not a single codling and not many whiting showed up which was odd I thought. There was a bright moon too which puts me off a bit. Anyway, was a nice night and still good to get out before the cold spell.
I'm having trouble loading pics but i'll figure it out.

Tony I think all the whiting were on a beach slightly to the south, I was plagued with them, didnt matter how far I cast, they were there nibbling away. Would be good if they turned up a bit bigger now and again. I wonder where these fish go when they grow up. I never saw a whiting over 1lb in Co Antrim and that one took a whole mackerel fillet that was put down to tempt a turbot on a size 6/0 hook(in vain).
As for the whitin off the beach, I got my best one ever last night. I'd say it was pushing 4.5 ounces. Where the hell do they mature? And why do we get so many juveniles?
