People:me
Duration:4 hrs
Tide:very calm
Weather:lovely
Bait:rag and mack
Rigs:floating and 2 up one down
Results:one coalie, 4 wrasse
Report:headed down on sat on my own as i hadnent been out in a week or so. the weather was lovely and it was nice and sunny as you can see from the picture. i tried a mark that hadnt let me down before and was rewarded after 30 sec with a nice wee coalie (please confirm lol as i aint always sure of fish). but it died off for a while after that and i only got another ballen wrasse. nice wee dark one.
i then moved around Ramoure Head for a go on the float. this was usless as i never got a bite at all. i changed back again and fired it back out. which was a bite a min session. i was getting well drunk off with the amount of snagging i was getting
i then landed another wee brown and white wrasse and then i got what i think is my first corkwing wrasse judging by the lovely green on it. please tell me if im right as i was well excited on my own at getting it! lol

interesting to hear that. . i usually stop fishing ramore till the new year but i may take a trip down soon and see if there are any big wrasse about still, i had a craker 6lb+ ballen in sept which really showed what wrasse can do.

thats a cracker wrasse. well mine well all pretty small. i got the corkwing around there but i was getting serious bites around there, just at the pipe exit. it was the best fishing i had had that day.
the mack was a waste of time, the rag worked really well

it was bigger than i've had on the boat trips and nearly pulled me in. its a good spot that because there is a nice deep hole just out from the pipe.
did you say you bottom fished it??

yup, i fired it out in front of it and was getting a fair few bites. i lost a few traces as well in there. the floating was no use at all, i tried both rag and mack on it in front of and around that area with zero bites.

cool - i wonder why the float didnt work for you?
its a rough ol bottom at the pipe area but there is sand further out with a decent cast.
tight lines mate - keep at it

indeed its a good spot
a couple of years ago i had 83 wrasse in about 4 hours out of there, i was using cement "leads" made in old film cannisters with just a hook and rag for bait.
believe or not i didn't lose 1 rig either.
i remember it well, twas one of, if not thee, best wrasse bashing sessions ive ever had.
stinks though

i bet that was fun, my arm would be wrecked after all that.

we are lucky enough now the pipe has been decommisioned - i was told not to eat any fish from there that had sweetcorn in its mouth!!!!!
