People:Myself & a friend
Duration:Sat 20 Nov. Time 17:30 until 19:45
Tide:hour before up to two hours ebb approx.
Weather:Clear Skies, Settled North/North East Winds force two to three
Bait:Crab, Lug, Squid, Sandeel.
Rigs:Pennel Pulley clipped & 2 hook clipped
Results:First blank of 2010
Report:We fished into dark full of expectation as the last few weeks we have been getting good catches or ray, codling, coalies & bass from this part of the beach. Conditions looked right and we had plenty of bait. We spent the whole session fishless without so much as a movement on the rod tips that had not been caused by the waves. Back to earth with a bang after a fantastic few weeks out. As they say thats why it's called fishing and not catching. Heading to Kerry for the surf during the week. Let you know how it went.[/color]

I wish I was Roger. I'm gutted as I've only had one blank from here before. It's a place that has always been kind to me over the years. Mind you I've never day fished it before so I'm not too sure how it fishes by sunlight. As for Kerry being a Cork Man I only get invited to the Kingdom now and again and in the spirit of brotherly anglers it would be rude not to take a day out when the opportunity arises. Not being a GAA follower leaves the slagging to a minimum and more time to concentrate on fishing.

Thanks gitsea M, it sure is. Mind you it was lovely to get out so wasn't a complete loss. Lessons to be learned (don't know what this one is yet but it will come to me),

Garryvoe eh, that can be a funny old place for me. I blanked there sunday but previous sessions there this year were very good to me. Its a big ol' beach so perhaps I just don't find em and its never been much use in daylight, well it hasn't been for me maybe others got on well there during daylight hours.

Don't feel too bad I had 22fish in the munster open..... only 1made it over the 25cm needed out of the rest 17was the biggest. It was heartbreaking stuff. A blank would of been less tormenting.

Ah I remember those days Sully. Frustration sometimes, elation other times. Nowadays I only fish for fun but did enjoy the thrill of competative Angling for many years with Crosshaven SAC and Anglesea SAC. Just came in from a night out with my 13 year old. Saw him catch decent codling, dogs and a rockling in a bitter northerly wind and temps of 3 degrees in Cork Harbour. Made me smile more than anything else. Felt really proud that he's enjoying it. Best of luck in Competitions. Hope you enjoy every minute of it. I learned so much over the years from watching people fish.
