its a nasty spot for losing gear alright junior conger.. I wonder how hard it is to get a decent fish in from that mark without getting snagged!.. I have fished it a few times.. Had plenty of whiting but never anything decent..

To avoid the snags at “de wall” you need to be hitting bait out over 130 yards minimum.
The channel is about 150 yards out and is about 60 feet deep.
To get the better fish you need to be using a pulley rig a good rough ground rod and a reel with a 6:1 retrieve anything less and a 3lb + cod will pull you into the ledge.
I’ve lost good fish trying to drag them up over that ledge.
I use a Daiwa tdxs 133pm with a Penn 525 loaded with 30lb braid and still a good cod, 4lb+, will not show until he bangs his head off the wall below me.
The cleanest bit of ground to fish is at the Monkstown end of the footpath under the power lines,

That makes more sense alright Donal.. thanks for that advice... the retrieve i reckon would have caused me grief and i reckon my rod may have been a bit soft so i'll bear all that in mind.. Thanks
