Howth East Pier 15/10/10 Nice suprise!

Had some info that the west pier was not very snaggy so me and my dad went down to the west pier and had a look. it looked like rocks went out out for miles, so there ma dad moaning that it will be snaggy, so we went to the east pier bout half way looked like no snags so he wanted to fish there. i knew east was snag city but meh rough ground sometimes chucks up a few.

Down to the fishing. Set up with 2 hook flapper loaded with mackeral and launched it out, waiting......waiting, then reeled in! Bang................ A snag got it out basically rinse and repeat this situation. Then my dad tried FEATHERS first cast got a nice little pollock 23cm few casts later same again. I thought hang on this aint fair so i put some on. Took a while to hit the first pollock but got one out still tidlers. It gets Better! Next cast im reeling in and Bang!..............Fish on, thought this is better got it close and wow! i got a mackeral, not a bad size one too, thatwent home for bait. Another cast produced another small pollock.

My verdict Crap for bottom fishing, but in the height of summer July/August i reckong alot of sport is to be had!

Excellent. Love hearing fish being caught in Howth. Had a few pollock and whiting on a lure last week just before the west pier into the harbour. No Macks though :( Nice spot if ya can ignore the gangs of ankle biters talkin about how big their tvs were in prison and asking ya for tackle every 2 minutes  Must try the east pier.
