kerry ray

hi all,
l just getting around to making a report on fishing competition held in kerry few weeks ago, this report is just on my catch and not the overall competition, this i my first report as well as my first competition so sorry in advance if i omit anything that should be included. Fishing was tough some of the days with weed being a major headache on some venues making them almost unfishable and some of these sessions i blanked, but things were a lot better on other venues with flounder being my main catch including one of over 40cms a pb, turbot was next most common but most were undersize. My highlight was on the last day when i caught a painted ray of over 72cms my first ray of any kind i was over the moon with it especialy as it won biggest fish over the 4 days.We were all suprised that peeler crab didnt seem to work too well, best baits were lug and mack by far. On the way back home we stopped off for a few hours rock fishing which was great fun, caught about 10 wrasse with one of them being about 4 lbs lovely fish. Only have a pic of the ray as i forgot memory card for camera so fitted only one photo on internal memory which was nearly full [my girlfriend seems to think baby pics more important than fish pics] just like to thank all those who helped make it such a fantastic few days

Congrats on the ray, that's a beauty! I am glad to hear that you had a good time down in Co.Kerry, it is a beautiful part of the Country and the fishing aint bad either
I take it the comp you are talking about was the daiwa pairs? It's a great comp, always organised and run very well. It's a shame the weather or in your case the weed got in the way spoiling the fishing at some of the planned venues, it seems to happen nearly every year and can be very annoying.

no kerry not the diawa pairs it was a defence forces competition. It was held just a few days before the pairs started. I agree totally about that part of the country, i will definately be back for another crack at them beaches again
