People: Me and a pal
Duration: about 6hrs
Tide: Up and down a bit
Weather: Pretty fresh easterly
Bait: Lug, rag
Rigs: Several
Results: Mackkies, Pollock, Coley, Whiting, Doggies, Bass
Report: Took a pal from work out for his first ever sea fishing session. Idea was to head out and hopefully get a few mackkies for a BBQ on the beach and (hopefully) a bass or two, although he would have been happy with anything.
Fished off the rocks for a bit while we waited for the surfers to clear off from where we wanted to fish, after a few mackkies and anything else that might crop up. Not expecting much but in an hour of so we had four mackkies and a little pollock so can't complain, some nice bait and something for BBQ.
After that moved to the beach and had a few whiting after it got dark, then a couple of doggies before a double hit of a coalfish and pollock, coley was about 1.5lb. Bit later on my mate had a bass about 3lb or so and is no well and truly hooked, especially after the BBQ of nice fresh mackerel.
All in all a nice little session, maybe 20 or so fish between us so nothing earth shattering but enough to get somebody else joining the sport which is what matters. Incidentally, as I said it was his first time sea fishing and he managed to use a multi for the first time, at night, without a single birdie. Good work that man!
