Donaghadee Co Down, 5th+6th Oct 2010

Thu Oct 07, 2010 9:35 am

People: Bingham and I on Tuesday, Just Me Wednesday

Duration: 7pm-9.15pm Tuesday, 5pm - 8.30pm Wednesday

Tide: Pushing

Weather: Not bad at all...

Bait: Lug, Rag, Mack

Rigs: Loops, Penell.

Results: Ballan Wrasse, Pollack, Coalies, Whiting, Shore Rockling, 5 B Rockling, Pouting, Poor Cod

Report:

2 Days on the Dee, which were pretty similar in honesty. Before the light went there were a few Ballans about. Got smashed up by a good one on the back wall. Slightly gutted.
As the light went the Pollack and Coalies both switched on and it was double shots all the way, the Loop rig really has a way of picking up bottom feeding coalfish.
A few rockling were caught in the rough and the pouting and poor cod seemed to get to the baits after the Pollack and Coalies went off the boil.
And on both nights, at around 9pm on the first night, and 8pm on the second night, the fishing completely died! It was really weird, I can only assume the big tides had something to do with it.

But a great couple of nights all the same.
Wish I had the chance to dig lug again today! :D
