Bray Harbour
Went to Bray Harbour with neil on Sat night. I got there first and set up down the end of the pier . I got a Dab at distance early on but nothing else for quite a while. The pier soon packed up and by the time Fishface arrived I was surrounded by kids fishing so I gave up my prime spot to be near him  ,but on reeling in I had a doggie on the line  .Fishface said he had caught a whiting but I didnt see it so I cant confirm it  . I had a couple of whiting when I moved down but it was only when Fishface went home ( his poor feet were killing him , Bless him  ) that things improved. I got chatting to the guy beside me who was trying for a conger and I left my bait out a bit too long , so when I reeled in there was just a pair of whiting lips on the hook, I swear I didnt reel in too quick  .From 9-30 pm to 10pm I had 4 coalies in succession ,then the Mistress arrived to whisk me home. All fish were caught on rag.

Greystones

I would have headed out after dinner but she didnt make one but I still ended up in Greystones at about 4pm,,,,,lovely sunny mild calm day. 3 lads floatfishing were catching small coalies on mack strip. I set up 2 small rods , one with small hooks, size 2's and the other with bigger hooks, size 1/0's to tempt some decent fish, well that was the plan. First fish came after half an hour, a scorpion fish, blank saved  . I lobbed the next cast out onto the clean sand and could hardly believe my luck when I got a decent bite and reeled in a nice plaice  ,before you all say it I did check for BONY NODULES and took a pic in case  A 27cm pollock was next up, followed by my one and only Wrasse of the session, a Corkwing, on rag, I thought i'd have caught more of them here, they must be getting thin on the ground(or in the sea  ).Blennies were next, with the little beggars digging in when hooked , they must be half limpet  . I got a truly HUMUNGOUS SEA SCORPION of 20cms next, which the photo doesnt do justice to , but you can take my word for it, as Scorpions go, he was HUGE  . My couple of lug got me a couple of small codling and I finished the session with doubles and trebles of blennies , codling and scorpion fish. As usual, when darkness fell, a little furry friend peeped his head round a rock just as I was bending down to bait up so I was outa there double quick

good mix as always dave and nice plaice 8) you'll have to get yourself a wee dog to take out with you to greystones to fend off your furry wee friends     i have to admitt that it's a bit unsettleing to put your hand into the bait bag and see 2 little beady eyes look back out at you

Nice plaice. I can see why you took the close up. He looks a bit suspect alright. Don't think i ever seen one that dark. It's like an estuary flounder. Good mix of fish anyway. Must try to get a corkwing myself before they're gone till next year.

Thanks Frank, its amazing the way the blennies can dig in, I used to think I was snagged and pull for a break but now I give it a bit of slack and wait to see if theres any movement to indicate a fish on the end before breaking the line
